Gotcha!

It took three hammers to remove the cylinders from the RD400. The crank is rusted solid, the small ends too…The rest of the bike is thankfully almost new… on to finding the parts and splitting the motor.

PISSED & STUCK

Had a go at the RD 400. It looked promising BUT… Cylinders are real Stuck! As in “never seen Stuck like that before”
I’d like to save the crank but it soen’t look good. I’ll certainly need new piston as well. Oh well, first I have to get them off.

Sad story of the bike which didn’t fit

Placeholder for my SS125 story…

New addition to the stable

My daughter Maria Valentina was born today… quite a change from all things mechanical!
Workshop will have to proceed at a slower pace from now on.

Breaker’s yard closing down

Went to the local bike breaker (I am a good customer since 10-odd years) and the owner sold the business… to a bunch a neo-bikies wanting to set-up a HARLEY DEALERSHIP!!!!!! When i got there they had already trashed a mountain of bikes, 15 years of breaker’s stock going to the crusher…

Welll guys can I help you with that? I’ll even move them myself….
One of the depot.

Some of the saved bikes in front of my workshop. The Rd400D is a rarity over here, insurance rates in ’77 the same for 1000 or for a 400… Guess what sold well?

God, I hate Taxi drivers…

After leaving the maternity, I couldn’t avoid a taxi opening its traffic side door right in front of me… Down I go and the sucker just leaves the scene! The RD has a few scratches more (Great!) and I’ve got a pretty blue foot and ankle.

Finally bought the KR-1 Track Bike

Can’t resist a lonely stroker! Have to make new shelves for the fairings, the other bike is almost compplete what with an extra motor… both of them KR1-B

I NEED SPACE AND MAYBE FOUND IT.

Looks like I might have found a buyer for my A1s. It is both good and bad as it spells the ends of my A1R project.

Silvio from The Swiss Kawasaki Triple Club will take at least the 70 A1A in part exchange for a repainted S1 72 set… suits me fine! But the other bike a 1966 A1 is still waiting for parts and might have a problem with the motor… as the 2 motors I’ve got are modified for racing… Plus the extra 66 frame was meant for Noellia, the A1R… what to do.

KR1 TRACK BIKE PART 2

Went yesterday to see the Kr1. Track bike with the usual scratches but running strong. It’s the same as mine (1st model) but comes with an almost complete 2nd bike, a Kr1S obviously, torn to bits with an extra motor and tons of fairings. 450£ /1500 swiss, about a grand US. Divorce forces sale… the usual story. Guy is a racer about to retire, the bike was bought for his kids (!)… not quite happening since the divorce is on. He also has the only dyno in the region, sadly since the shop fire it is not yet ready to run. We’ll check again on the 25th.
